ベビートーピード
ヘドン一族の末裔であり、James Heddonの曾孫にあたるChuck Heddon氏。83歳となった現在であってもバスフィッシングを愛する姿勢は変わりありません。そのChuck氏が溺愛するプラグがベビートーピード。ルアーコレクターとしても名高いChuck氏が実現を望んだのは自らが生誕した1942年当時のカラーリングを施したベビートーピードでした。
往年のカラーリングの再現に定評のあるスミスファクトリーによる精緻な塗装工程を経て、Chuck氏が熱望した当時のカラーをまとったベビートーピードが再現しました。
チャック・ヘドン氏からのメッセージ
皆さんこんにちは。私はチャックヘドンと申します。私は世界中に沢山いる釣り好きの一人です。
歳を重ねるにつれ私にとってのバスフィッシングは楽しさが増すばかりで、30�僂曚匹両�さいバスが釣れることを想像するだけでも言葉に出来ないくらい興奮してしまうほどです。特に大好きなトップウォーターで釣れた時は思わず喜びの笑みを浮かべてしまいます。
時折、バス釣りの最中にヘドンルアーの歴史を思い起こすことがあります。
あの有名なミルポンドの話、
熱気球からの落下傘降下、
あの飛行機「フライング・フィッシュ」の話、等々・・・
こういったヘドンにまつわる物語に思いを馳せるたび、私の曽祖父であるジェームズ・ヘドンが作り上げたものの偉大さを誇りに感じるのです。
ジェームズ・ヘドンは私を含め世界中の数えきれないほどの釣り人を笑顔にしてきました。
そして現在、私はスミスと共同で日本の釣り人に笑顔を届けようとあるプロジェクトを進めています。
それは私のお気に入り、X0361・ベビートーピードにヘドンオリジナルの6色を塗ったものを販売するというものです。その6色は、私が昔から思い入れのある色の中から厳選したものとなっており、2025年の販売を目標にしております。
私はスミスの皆様にこのプロジェクトを実現していただけることに感謝します。また、今回の6色はヘドンらしさを十分に味わえるものと自負しておりますので実際にルアーを手にされた方々も同様に感じて頂ければ嬉しいです。
最後に、ジェームズ・ヘドンの曽孫として、日本のバス釣りファンの皆様には貴重な釣りの時間をヘドンルアーと一緒に楽しんでいただいている事に心から感謝します。

My name is Chuck Heddon. I love fishing just like every other fisherman in the world.
As I get older, I have enjoyed bass fishing more. When I think about how much excitement and joy a 12 inch green back can give me is beyond the word! Especially when I catch bass on my favorite top water, it just makes me smile. When I am fishing for bass, I sometimes think about how Heddon lures were started;
The famous story about old mill pond,
the story about jumping out of hot balloon,
the story about “Flying Fish” airplane,……..
I am very proud of what my great grand-father, James Heddon, created in the fishing world.
He has been putting millions, millions smiles on fishermen’s faces including mine.
I have been talking with Smith Co. to make more smiles on Japanese fishermen’s faces.
So, I picked up my most favorite 6 original color from Heddon’s creation. These 6 colors will be painted on my favorite, X0361, Baby Torpedo. It will be released in 2025.
I appreciate Smith people for making this project a reality. I hope many people can enjoy my selection of colors. It is the best taste of Heddon.
As a great grand-son of James Heddon, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Japanese fishermen for enjoying their precious time with Heddon lures.
Maybe I can meet with some Japanese bass fishermen someday.

9A Yellow Perch
昔からバスが好むベイトフィッシュを模した色として人気のあったカラーの1つです。ベイトフィッシュのカラーを忠実に再現するのではなく、特徴となる色を強調してバスを刺激します。
This is one of the very popular colors back then to imitate the main bait fish which bass prefer. It is not an exact copy of bait fish, but the key colors which bass are tuned into is placed on the lure to stimulate bass to react.
9B Frog Spot
フロッグスポットは子供の頃から大好きな色でした。いつ大型のトロフィーサイズのバスが飛び出て来るのかとワクワクしながら使いました。私にとって切り札であり、いつも頼れる色でした。あまりにもこの色が好きなために、他のヘドンルアーでもこの色を集めています。
Frog Spot has been my favorite color since childhood. It just makes me feel a big trophy bass will hit it any time soon. Easy to say, it is my Ace in my pocket. Since I like frog spot so much, I have been collecting other Heddon lures in frog spot color also.
9D Green Scale
この色はバスが小さなベイトフィッシュを追っている時に良いです。このカラーの秘密は下地のコーティングがスケール模様を引き立たせている点にあります。警戒心が強い、低活性といったバスの注意を惹き付けることが出来ます。
This color is good to use when bass are chasing small bait fish. The secret of this color is the layer of the under coat before the scale itself. It really get lots of attention from selective and spooky bass.
9J Frog Scale
この色はバスが好む自然界の要素を取り入れています。バスはカエルが好きです。鱗をまとったベイトフィッシュも好きです。バスが好きなカエルと鱗模様を組み合わせた色です。
This is based on another natural attractor for bass. Bass love frogs. Bass also love baitfish which have scales. So, combine what bass would like to have; frog color and scale pattern.
9XRY Yellow Shore Minnow
この色は光量の低い状況下での使用を考慮して作られました。明るい黄色はとても目立ちます。ショアミノーパターンの模様は長年にわたりヘドンで多用されてきたものです。
This color was created for low light conditions. This bright yellow stands out very well. This color pattern has increased popularity in Heddon products over the years.
RB Rainbow
ヘドンの中でも釣果実績が突出して良かった色です。クリアーウォーターのみならずステインウォーターでも同様に高い効果があります。これはジェームス・ヘドンの提唱した「本物のエサに似せる事がルアーの本質ではない」という事を証明する色でもあります。
This is Heddon’s fish catching appealing color. This is not only good for clear water, but also excellent for stained water as well. This is another way of proving James Heddon’s belief which said nothing is gained in constructing the bait to resemble any living thing.
